Where is Baja?
Baja California (or "lower California") is a 1000-mile long peninsula that starts just south of San Diego in the US and stretches south into the Pacific Ocean. It's part of Mexico but is separated from the Mexican mainland by the Sea of Cortez.
What sort of riding experience must I have to ride with BORA?
We normally expect riders to have had some off-road riding experience on a dirtbike. You don't have to be the next Jeremy McGrath or Scott Summers, but you should be happy with handling a dirtbike. However, we can cater for less-experienced riders, such as road-riders. We interview all prospective riders over the phone to make sure they're riding with others of equal ability. At BORA we never schedule beginner and advanced riders on the same tour. We strictly believe in this rule.
What must I bring with me?
You need to bring your normal riding gear which should include pants, several jerseys (it's always nice to put on a clean jersey each day!), goggles, gloves, knee pads, body armor, boots and helmet. If you don't have riding gear, you can rent some from us. We also recommend a back-mounted drinking system like the Camelbak™, some cash (US dollars) for drinks and souvenirs, your passport, a camera and plenty of film! BORA supplies the bike, fuel, tools and everything else you need to ride.
What shouldn't I bring with me?
The Baja authorities are very strict about drugs and guns. You must NEVER attempt to bring in such items - the penalties for doing so are severe to say the least.

Do you rent riding gear?
Yes, we do. And at competitive prices. Just contact us for details.

Is the water safe to drink and what's the food like in Baja?
On the trail, BORA supplies fresh bottled drinking water. When in hotels, we recommend you drink only bottled water, but restaurants are normally fine. Your breakfast, lunch and dinner are all included in the price. With meals like fresh lobster, steak and sea food, when it comes to dinner, you will never go hungry! Indeed, most customers gain weight on our tours! Your food is one thing we pride ourselves on; you will be eating like a king when in Baja!
